This site’s articles on “The Iranian Dream,” and the “Battle of Gog” connect contemporary news with Ezekiel’s Chapters 38 and 39 coming event. Is his prophecy one in the same with John’s Revelation 16 and 19 Armageddon events? There’s the question. Read my piece on “The Battle of Gog” and you will see with me an irrefutable parallel of events in both battles. That one prophet adds or leaves out what the other doesn’t is no different than the differing events reported in the Gospels. The hermeneutics persuade me. Nevertheless, because of the dark glass we view God’s truth through (1 Corinthians 13: 12), I’m not completely convinced one way or the other. In John’s prophecy we see a 3 1/2 half year season of the Trumpets that take place before the antichrist sets up his Abomination of Desolation that kicks of the Great Tribulation (Daniel 9:27; 12:11; Matthew 24:5). If Gog and his Islamic allies are drawn down on Israel in a separate event, there may be no waiting. One passage that persuades me Ezekiel’s Chapters 38 and 39 and John’s Chapters 16 and 19 battles are the same is Ezekiel’s battle after-action report reported in Ezekiel 39:27-29:
27 “When I bring them back from the peoples and gather them from the lands of their enemies, then I shall be sanctified 1through them in the sight of the many nations. 28 “Then they will know that I am the Lord their God because I made them go into exile among the nations, and then gathered them again to their own land; and I will leave none of them there any longer. 29 “I will not hide My face from them any longer, for I will have poured out My Spirit on the house of Israel,” declares the Lord God (Ezekiel 39:27-29).
If Ezekiel’s battle takes place before the Great Tribulation his coming battle will prepare Israel for the Antichrist and his Great Tribulation.

Now to the point of this article. When Ezekiel prophesies that God will put a hook in Gog’s jaw to
draw him down on Israel, it doesn’t say how long the draw down will take place. Now that Russian President Vladimir Putin has Russian troops in Syria, he is only 135 from Jerusalem.
Ancient Persia (the entire Middle East when Ezekiel prophesied its Gog alliance in 38:3-6) is slowly reforming:
3 ‘Thus says the Lord GOD, “Behold, I am against you, O Gog, prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal.
4 “And I will turn you about, and put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you out, and all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them splendidly attired, a great company with buckler and shield, all of them wielding swords;
5 Persia (ancient Middle East), Ethiopia (ancient Africa), and Put (northern Africa) with them, all of them with shield and helmet;
6 Gomer (Armenia and portions of Turkey) with all its troops; Beth-togarmah (Gomer’s son with him) from the remote parts of the north with all its troops-many peoples with you.
I’m watching the hook possibly set. Are you? It is plausible that today we are watching Gog’s preparation for the event. Remember, God, not Gog, is the hook-setter.

Ezekiel 38:18-23
