Leftists To Siege White House On Eve Of Feast Of Trumpets'

(Worthy News) - Tensions were mounting in Washington D.C. Friday after a fiercely anti-capitalist group announced plans to occupy the White House on the eve of the Biblical Feast of Trumpets.

Canada-based Adbusters said protests would start next month in or near the White House premises amid alleged
concerns about U.S. President Donald Trump's policies.

"On September 17, 2020, we come together at Lafayette Square to lay siege to the White House for 50 days of nonviolent protest," the group explained in comments monitored by Worthy News. "Why? Because we will not let @realDonaldTrump steal the election," it added.

Adbusters also accused President Trump of not doing enough to tackle the coronavirus pandemic. Trump sits "smugly atop a corona death-toll that may surpass two-hundred thousand Americans by Christmas," Adbusters stressed in a statement monitored by Worthy News.

OCCUPY WALL STREET

The group said it choose September 17 as this is the anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street movement for which it claims credit. Rallies launched in 2011 against greed, and economic inequality soon spread to several nations.

Some Christians said the action around the house of the free world leader might have some prophetic significance as it begins just a day before the Feast of Trumpets.

"The ten days between the Feast of Trumpets and Yom Kippur" are "the holiest day of the Jewish calendar," noted the Israel-based Christian group One For Israel.

"They are called the "Days of Awe," where people are encouraged to contemplate their position before God. It's a very special time in Israel."

It noted that the "Feast of Trumpets relates to the last trumpet that shall sound" when Christ "comes again in glory."

MOUNTING PRESSURE

Adbusters said the upcoming White House protests starting September 17 "may be the perfect day to trigger another global big-bang moment."

It called the planned demonstration "a massive collective action of the sweetest kind of disobedience..."

The announcement came amid mounting pressure on President Trump. On Monday, a shooting near the White House prompted security agents to briefly remove him from a press briefing.

Officials said 51-year-old Myron Berryman of Forestville, Maryland, is being charged with assaulting a police officer.

Berryman was hospitalized after being shot by a Secret Service officer near the White House.
