Looking Back: The Glory Years of NASA – America on the Moon

This July marks the 48th anniversary of my generation’s greatest technical achievement. On July 20, 1969, 48 years ago, a manned spacecraft rocketed 240,000 miles out of earth’s atmosphere to land on the moon. One calculated thruster burn over the Pacific, and the three-spacecraft configuration of America’s eleventh Apollo mission coasted to, and landed, on the moon.
